Specifically Romsey, North Baddesley, Nursling/Rownhams area...
On saturday night some people on motorbikes slid into the gates to the yard down the lane from my parents, then went round the back of the yard, found field gate locked, so smashed down the fence and raced around the field (all this assumed by the state of the place covered in motorbike tracks and broken fence). Field backs onto my parents house and my little section B gelding lives there. All horses got out of the field but our little pony was found in a stable munching haynet whilst other two ran around the lane. Thank-god a stable door was left open by someone and there was food in there.
They were found by a lady who was just going to check on her horses - apparantly people on motorbikes had also taken off her field gate and let all of her horses out onto the lane too.
I have asked my mum to contact Hampshire Horsewatch and the police (she was on holiday until monday so person who shares the field was looking after our pony and has not contacted police) so word gets out for people to be vigilant. This really does not bear thinking about, my parents live incredibly close to the main road that connects Southampton and Romsey, and feeds onto the M27. There are lot of horses in this area and mostly seem to be kept 'at home' or at small private yards/fields so a lot of opportunity for people to do such things and no one to notice until the next morning.
Please pass this on to anyone you may know who lives in this area.
