Just a heads up that there have been several yard break-ins in our area (North Lincolnshire), including Flixborough, Alkborough, and either Messingham or Scotter (not sure which) and several thousand pounds worth of tack stolen.

My OH's riding instructor has lost £3500 worth of tack and that was just a small part of one break-in - the bas****s only took leather saddles and left the synthetics, but also took children's crops????

They were talking about it at our local tack shop yesterday and it seems that 5 or 6 yards have been broken into

A few weeks ago some men were parked in a big van overlooking one yard (on a private road) and sped off when spotted, their numberplate was passed on to police and turned out to be fake.

The break-in at our RI's yard was a van plus a 4x4, presumably one to keep watch, there has been nothing in our local papers warning people either.

The insurance companies are getting out of paying out on the YO's policy for the livery's tack as a notice was up stating that tack was left at the owner's risk

and a lot of people don't have their tack covered on their own insurances as the day to day cost of keeping horses has risen so much over the last few years.

I'm just glad that I keep everything at home, it's a bit of a pain carting it about but my babies (2 gsd's) are better than any burglar alarm!

Now though I'm worried about my nags as they are out of sight of the main road and no one is down there after we leave in the evening as the farm is being restored

Do you have a description of the blokes? I ask as I had a guy trying to buy my shettie, he was quite persistent actually, then tried to sell me tack before he left!

I phoned the police.....

Sorry I don't have a description, the men seen watching the yard were too far away to be seen properly.

Whereabouts are you though (pm me please if you don't want to broadcast it), and what did the man look like as with the way the police operate nowadays it may be worth our RI chasing them up to check they have connected the dots!

Thanks, Angela
