We had a strange man in our yard this afternoon. Very 'pikey' looking chap - rough around the edges some might say. Pulled up in a black 04 plate mercedes. Asked me if the place was a riding school, and when I replied "no, just a livery yard" he said "how does that work, do people keep all their stuff here?" I asked him what he meant by stuff and he said "tack and rugs and that" at which point I told him no, it all got taken home every night. I then got the yard owner out, who chatted with him for a bit (YO has a ride-on lawn mower for sale). The pikey bloke then took out a huge wad of notes (about 2k in 50s) and bought the mower (which was only a couple of hundred quid), saying he would be back later to pick it up.
I have brought all my tack etc home, and have warned the others on the yard to do the same. This happened at a yard between BSE and Sudbury - so just a warning if anyone else is in that area.
