Just to make people aware, my 4 dogs became very ill today. Short Story is I walked my dogs sunday morning around Wretham woods in Norfolk. Today 2 of them began chronic vomiting, high temp & became very lethargic with swellings on their body and face both were diagonsed with seasonal cainine illness and my other two are covered in raised lumps. All four dogs were covered in harvest mites which are linked to this deadly virus. Two dogs are at the vets on drips, vets are hopeful so I'm praying they will be ok. So be aware if you walk in woods and your dogs show any of the above symptoms contact your vets immediately. Please see animal health trust website for more information on affected area's.

Oh no! I hope they are ok and make a full recovery.
Whereabouts were you walking? A friend of a friend's dog picked it up in Hockham Woods near the picnic site. Was it any where near there?

Update: my little girl is now home after being at vets for 2 days, and the other 3 are back to normal, yes my vet is knotts yard who done a great job. All their bloods have been sent to AHT for research, phew thank goodness :-)

I walk ours at Knettishall & Harling usually, but they are having to make do with walking round our lanes since the seasonal illness hit the headlines again.
OH & I said we would start back at the woods this weekend, maybe not now after reading op's experience.
Hope your doggies make a full recovery soon.

I am really glad your doggies are on the mend.

Pippa and Marcus are great aren't they. Although I have been seen far to much of them recently for my liking. I recently discovered a load of ragwort in my hay, but only after my ponies had eaten 20 bales of it. I had thought all the stalky bits were thistle, until I discovered a yellow flower head, and then loads more :(

Anyway, I always keep my dogs on a lead in Hockham Woods and on Knettishall Heath, if I didn't, they'd b***er off into the next county anyway. But me and others I know also keep them on leads to help minimise the risk of them catching this disease. It's really concerning and I think there should be big clear signs up warning dog owners of the dangers at the Picnic Site.
