Warning - Worcestershire/Warwickshire Area
I just wanted to warn anyone around this area that yesterday after leaving the house for 30 minutes I found a blue escort car with at least 3 men in (one obese) parked at the bottom of my drive looking at one of my mares with a 2 week old coloured foal. We live down a long 1/2 mile track and none of my ponies are visible from the road. They had pulled right onto my property. The fat man asked me if I had any foals to sell. They were dressed as though they were decorators and had some metal ladders on top of the car. One of the other men was out of the car - he was stockily built with dark short hair. I can't remember all of the conversation as I was quite shocked. They were after foals though from what I could gather. When I asked how he had found me he said they had been sent by a Mary Pickford from Stratford who had two black standard ponies and to whom I had sold a roan colt about 4 years ago. I don't know a Mary Pickford and have not sold a roan colt to anyone of that name.
I contacted the police and have an incident number which I have passed on to Worcestershire Horsewatch. The mare and foal are no longer on my premises and the stables are now being alarmed. I will do what I can to warn other owners locally.
