A friends yearling has began to get lots of warts round her nose and lips. could it be linked to the field she is kept in as it has been quite wet with all the rain lately?

Dont worry, lots and lots of youngsters get these and they almost always just go on their own without you having to do anything. They are called Milk Warts if you want to look up about them on the web

it is common for youngsters to develop warts around their muzzle (but horrible to look at)! They will just disappear in a few months so nothing to worry about.

Yearlings are prone to getting warts (sorry, I can't remember what the condition is called) but it is basically a sarcoid related virus which once she has built up immunity to it, the warts will drop off and she'll be fine again.

will let her know thanks. in all the years i have had horses i have never had one with warts

just goes to show there is always something new to learn about horses.

Knew a black one with them once, was so covered he looked appaloosa, couldn't put a headcollar on him and his entire sheath/inner leg area was white. Looked horrendous! Was turned away for 18 months and they all went away...

I would try Thuja. Both the pillettes and the lotion twice a day and they will probably drop off within a week or so.
