I recently lost my Welsh pony in March to Laminitis, I think he was a Sec A, thats what he was sold to me as, and has that on his passport. He was Grey 12HH, and a very in proportion pony, out of all the ponie's we seen before we bought him, I only found 2 that looked perfect to me. My problem is I never see any like him around anymore, Sec A's seem to be shorter in the leg, larger barrell, small heads & nothing looks in proportion to me, is this the new way of bredding Sec A's? or was he a Section B? To me he had an araby look like Welsh ponies do, but he was like looking at a horse but in a smaller form, everything in proportion, head, legs, barell etc...

can you remember his proper name? might be able to find some breeding from that for you :)

this was my sec A, he was the best pony i have ever had. about 12hh i think

also a different type to the ones you see now

Welsh A - short, stocky, dished face

Welsh B - Like a mini TB type horse, finer.

Looking at the pictures of the breeds I would say Sec A, but his head was more in proportion to his body, where as nowadays they look big bodied, short legs & heads that are much to small for their bodies, ours did had a dished face, but not overly dished.

How old was he when you lost him? I'm thinking as most breeds/species etc, types evolve, the modern morgan is very different from the original morgan alot finer etc. The modern warmblood is alot lighter than the older style.

My pure welsh a mare (shes 6)
Shes now 12.1hh and has outgrown both welsh a parents :p One of a kind is my Mysti ;)

She has a pretty small head, and long legs :p Most people look at her and think b.

This is my daughters sec. a, hes quite a well bred one, his sires side is the friars lines, and the dams side is from the crossways line. Both lines are long standing lines, so hes a 'traditional type' :)
