Last night I got my arab mare in from field, she was a little slow to walk in but she is quite a chilled out horse to lead so thought nothing of it. put her in stable and she munched on her hay. tacked her up no probs didn't notice anything unusual. went to mounting block to get on her and noticed that she wasn't walking properly. found she had a swelling about the size of handspan on the area around her flank/hip which was twitching. she then started to look steadily worse and over the space of about 5 mins looked really down and realy stiff. Got the phone out to ring the vet and just before I pressed dial she suddenly perked up and the swelling started to go down. walked her around for a minute or two and she was fine, back to her perky self and no sign of any swelling. was this tying up and has anyone got any experience of managing horses that have had azoturia? (I will of course speak to the vet about it)

Not true tying up. Its much much more serious than that and would go down that quick.
Sounds more like she was kicked just before she came in!
Glad to hear she is ok tho
