Young girl fell off at a show over the weekend.
First Aid given, she felt fine but a hour later was nauseous and light headed.
Was offered a lift to Hospital to get checked out.
Went to Local Cottage Hospital
Was sick as she attempted to leave the car, so Doctor came out to her.
Was being checked out, Doctor asked if she had any other pain..she said "yes, my back really is sore"...
So Doctor called in the local Fire Brigade and cut the roof off the car as "she couldnt be got out safely"..a 10plate Range Rover Sport......and the owner only offered to take her to the hospital as she was at the Show alone!!!!

I don't know what i would have done if that happened to me.

By all accounts, the girl is fine, and went home the same day

OUCH!!!
that is totally ott though, how would taking the roof off made any difference to the way she got out, she had already moved around enough already for it not to overly matter if she got lifted out the car onto a board I would majorly pissed and I think the girl has some groveling to do!!!

Oh dear . But LOL

Not OTT at all. It could mean the difference between being fine and being paralysed. The doctor had some reason for being suspicious of a spinal injury.

I used to live with an EMT, there are ways of getting people out of cars in a sitting position without taking the roof off...
Perhaps the emergency services need some better training then:confused:. It's not an uncommon occurance (when deemed necessary;)). And one assumes they considered it necessary in this case.

I would think that the Dr perhaps needed to think "outside the box" - I know that's the wrong term but I know what I mean! I would assume that the firemen would do what they're told in this situation as the Dr would be the "expert in charge".
Also if there really was a big cause for concern over her back then the paramedic/St. John's person would have sent her straight to A&E for an xray rather than let her carry on

Did they just do the passenger side and peel it back like a tin opener, at least the driver wouldn't get wet then............. I'd be beyond peeved too and demanding her parents paid for a new vehicle.
