At our yard wash down is a cold hose  - but we're moving and can make a few changes.

It'd be great to have some warm water. :D

We were thinking electric shower with an extra long pipe - any ideas?

sorry cant help

here also is cold hose tho we will let them fill a few buckets of warm water to wash them .

We dont wash mud off tho the only time they horse is bath b 4 comp in winder and bathing with cold water winter with odd bucket warm .

We have an electric shower with an extra long hose - can't imagine being without it now. I did have it fitted so that I can remove it in winter as I have previously had to replace a couple hich froze in the winter even though. Thought I had drained all the water out of it

i bought a Hot Horse Shower recently and am chuffed to bits with it. runs on gas and batteries to start the burner, makes lots of lovely warm water. really impressed with it, recommended.

I was thinking about getting one of these as they look ace but wonder what do you do to dry your horses off? fleece's etc??? Heat lamps, if so what type????

Wonkey_donkey - of course, any time.
Dab, i have Equine Sunswitch heat lamps in 2 stables, or I put a Thermatex on the horse, they're magic.

Thanks kerilli, been think about get something similar. Can you let me know how you have set yours up (pm if you'd prefer) i.e how many in each stable, distances apart and do you tie up ponio in a set location to get the benefit. also how long does it take to dry off???

Apologies for the barage of questions :o

I did have 3 sunswitch lights in 1 stable, then altered it to 2 lights in 2 diff stables.
tbh i think 3 lights was ideal, one either side and one towards tail, i'll get a couple more at some point and get the system rejigged...
they're mounted on a framework my OH made out of Hilti channel. It's a rectangle about 6' x 3', hanging about 9' off the ground (well out of the way of horse's head unless it went vertical i guess), i can measure it exactly. i have 1 very silly flighty mare and even she's never worried about the framework being overhead. i leave the horse loose to eat hay usually (the grid is lined up with the Haybar in the corner) or sometimes tie up. It probably takes about an hour to dry the horse off.
if horse is loose very often they'll choose to stand to the side of the heatlamps though...

Just a thought and I know you will have thought of it but if they choose to not stand underneath them is that because of where they're positioned or because they're too hot to be comfortable? You can have the same problem with heat lamps/beds with puppies that unless you're careful they and the bitch all move out of range of the lamps as they get too hot which defeats the purpose of them.
Do you find they dry off as quick with rugs or with lamps too?
