I've washed a couple of Oscars rugs at home recently and was just wondering, should I still put the all the detergant (sp

) etc in or wash them au naturel?

i found the detergant washed the water proofing of, if you wash the machine out on a hot wash first when you put the rug in put nikwax in to reproof it and clean it. it worked on mine, sorry should have said for field rugs, other rugs get straight forward wash powder

Same, I only wash my non turn out rugs at home and I use my normal detergent. Although I find the washing isnt the tricky bit ... its sneaking them past my boyfriend so he doesnt start complaining about having horse hair in his pants! Perhaps if he ever did any of the washing ...

For years I have washed all my rugs myself, stable etc in washing machine if I can shove them in and still close the door! (Using stealth tactics when no one else is around!!!!)

Outdoor Rugs, I use a dustbin of cold rain water and horseware rug detergent, i give it a good barefoot stamping on (in summer of course) then rinse with a hose and leave to dry naturally. I have one Rambo that is 9 years old and still waterproof! Its heat and machine washing that ruins waterproof coatings I have found.
