washing a sheepskin numnah

I bought a numed sheepskin numnah from a freind - brand new - she never used it - but it wasnt in the bag - now i want ot wash it but dont have the washing instructions - can anyone advise please? Dont want to bu**er it up! - thanks

Use proper "chap wash" for leather - it's usually available at tack shops - NOT detergent. Follow the directions on the bottle and it should work out fine.

I purchased specialist sheepskin washing liquid for my sheepskin numnahs. I was them at 30 degrees, with a slow spin.

The other brilliant thing to do is to massage hair conditioner in to them before you wash. They come out soft, and dry like new using this method I find.

ecover do a delicates and wool wash liquid. i use a little of that at 30 degrees with as little spin as pos.

Use eco something and put on short 30 degree wash, i get the leave in spray conditioner from tescos and spray that after it comes out of machine. Keeps it nice and soft and smells lovely!

oh J - izzy and i were talking about it this morning - its the ride that we have always done together - but she is going alone this time - we are not nearly ready for it yet - still cant control the canter out yet - but im pig sick about missing it as its one of my favorites x

QR, sorry to hijack post!
Is there any way to rescue one that has gone 'bobbly'? I inherited one with my horse but it was already like that, woudl a proper sheepskin wash/conditioner bring it back to fluffyness do you think?!

Every so often I use my cat's brush (metal with rounded bobbles on the end) to brush the sheepskin after it's been washed and it dries nice and fluffy again. Firm but not too vigorous otherwise you end up pulling the fur out (the numnah, not the cat!!)
