Washing and reproofing rugs yourself

Was thinking about washing and reproofing all my turnout rugs myself, before they are needed again.
Does anyone do it themselves successfully? And if so what's the best product for this, or any to steer clear of?

I use Fabsil for reproofing. Just paint it on to the rugs. It works really well.
