I have a set of the woof wear club brushing boots which are in very good condition apart from the fact they are filthy, it's a mixture if mud on the outside and generally grime on the inner. Has anybody washed this type of boots before, if so how did you do it? Washing machine or bucket and soak?

Thank you :)

I normally use a hard brush and scrub any greasy bits with a dab of fairy liquid. then chuck in the washing machine on a cool cycle and hang up to drip dry.

We do our show boots like that once a month and they come up like new.

I just chuck em in the machine whenever they're dirty/sweaty. Didn't bother with a bag until recently when I invested in one of those special horse gear washing bags to stop horse hair getting in the machine, but you can get away without. I don't use any washing detergent as worried about irritation- they still come out clean tho! Also do straps up before you put them in...or you'll end up with a horrid tangle..:-/

I give mine a good brush with a dandy brush and get the worst of the mud and hair off or if wet mud a rinse under the yard tap. I then put them in the washing machine on a 40 degree wash with a non bio liquid like Fairy I don't put in any conditioner so the boots get a good rinse then I know they will not be made itchy by soap residue.

Reason I use a mesh bag is not to contain hairs, it's to stop them getting into such a taffle and keeping the velcro straps intact.
