Months ago I somehow managed to get a nice big rust mark on my Rodney Powell bp so trying to be a smart arse decided that a big blob of Vannish mixed combined with scrubbing in some Staindevil would do the trick.

Then what did I do?? Forget about it!!

Pulled it out today to lend to a friend and I now have a big bleach stain on it (but the rust has gone

)

Is there any way that I can dunk the whole thing in some dye or something (Black or navy will do!) as its bluely purple with a big orangey pinky whitey mush on it!

Have emailed RP but unfortunately they do not recover as its not cost effective

So its deal with it, put up with it or fork out for a new one!

I know you can wash body protectors as I have done it on many occasions. It's easier with the sort that the covers come off, but I have put them in the washing machine as they are with the sort where the covers are stitched on.

I don't think I'd risk dying one though because I wouldn't like to wash a body protector at a high temperature, so the dye would probably not be colour fast and could stain your top or jodhpurs if you were riding in the rain.

This is just a thought though, and maybe someone has done it and can advise you from experience.

Personally, I would leave it, as it is unlikely the bleached patch would take up the dye anyway, as it is probably a man-made material, as opposed to cotton or something, which would! Covering over bleached patches on things is nigh on impossible anyway, so I reckon you're stuck with the unsightly pink patch tbh!
