Washing horse trailer

My trailer is looking fairly grubby espc on the roof. I don't have access to a power hose.
Just wondering how/if you wash your trailers. Would you bring it to a garage and use their car wash facilities (manual ones)

We use one of those telescopic brushes and a bucket of hot water with car shampoo in. Not v exciting, but it does the job!

Ive never taken it to a garage carwash, not a bad idea if they will let you

Our trailer has a lot of green mould on the roof. The only stuff that shifts it is a fungicidal wash I get from Wickes. Find something solid to stand on. Have fun.

We have a pressure washer however can't see a reason if you find a spacious enough garage forecourt, why they wouldn't let you - money is money enjoy!

not many in my area would let a trailer on, im sure, they dont even let you wash 4x4 off roaders (because theyre dirty)

Whilst we're on the topic...OH has been made redundant and wants something to do...would there be interest in a mobile service that came and washed (or washed at shows perhaps?) and also did basic maintenance checks - electrics, lights, tyres, brakes etc, and if so how much would you pay?

I take mine to the hand car wash. It cost a bit more than a car but they get their ladder and brushes out and do a really good job

I'd happily pay for someone to visit my yard and clean my trailer a couple of times a year!

Don't know what he's thinking of charging, around £20 to £25 would seem reasonable to me

Whilst we're on the topic...OH has been made redundant and wants something to do...would there be interest in a mobile service that came and washed (or washed at shows perhaps?) and also did basic maintenance checks - electrics, lights, tyres, brakes etc, and if so how much would you pay?

Can I say I think this is an excellent idea - when I had my trailer, I used to moan that there wasn't anyone who'd come out & service it, I used to have to take it to the local dealer 30 miles away, drop it off, then go back a few days later and pick it up again - so 120 round trips and 3-4 hours of my time plus however much diesel.

Washing at shows not a particularly good idea though - it would make the ground around the trailer wet.

Glad you think it's agood idea, I will have words, I need to get him out of the house doing something again!

Had thought of the wet ground, we have thought of collecting and recycling the water - it would run off and you could lay an inflatable edged gutter under the edges of the lorry/trailer and suck up/filter the water for re-use, otherwise you'd run out of water too quickly.

We have ours washed when it goes in for annual service. Would love a mobile service so think the business idea is a really good one.

I have noticed that the best little biziness is a car wash near a main road, you need a van, a water container and two lads, not sure about planning, tbh I would take along a lurcher and a small fat child, park near a caravan, then there will be no trouble, its your human rights to earn a living, cash of course.
