Hello..wondered if anyone could help..Ive got some frontline to use on my horses legs.. I was going to wash the legs the night before in hibiscrub or teetree shampoo to get rid of all the mud etc as he is kept out..but..noticed that it says on the bottle that you shouldn't wash the animal 48hrs before use..as it is not as effective??

Just wanted to know what everyone else has done??

My horse wasn't muddy - it was summer. If you're worried about mud then why not brush it off when its dry or just use plain water to get the worst off then dry the legs before application. You're aiming for the skin not the hair so mud shouldn't really matter?

I have washed out the legs, but I have very hairy horses and wanted to make sure all the mud, grease etc was out of the hair and skin. I then sprayed on the frontline and rubbed well in. I then repeat ten days later, but just make sure the legs are well groomed out, ditto for the third application in a following ten days.

I then go onto pig oil and sulphur for the rest of the year, and have not had to use frontline again for mites as P&S and just sulphur will kill off pests and create an environment they don't want to hang round in.
