We’ve got a maiden mare (12 years old), who was AI’d last month, scanned last Friday and no foal, so was pg’d last Friday, and again yesterday as nothing had changed (the vet said it actually looked like there had been and it had been absorbed). Going back on Friday for another scan. We have paid for a “package” at the vets, which includes washing out the mare the day following covering – is this normal? We’ve had 3 other mares who have had foals but not been washed out after both AI and natural coverings, so I’m wondering what people think about all this washing out?

yep it's best practice. ai can have stuff like oils and egg etc to bulk out the sperm, so it's better to clean it out after
