Washing saddlecloths

Hi! Just wanting to know what detergent people use for saddle pads?? My horse has very sensitive and fine skin and is prone to little bumps under his saddle during summer.

Wool/silk washing liquid or numed wool wash if it's still available

If sheepskin you should use a leather wash, not just a wool wash, it's the skin (leather) that needs the highest degree of care. Some manufacturers say to use hair conditioner, for Mattes they absolutely do not and make their own detergent, Melp. Otherwise I used to use Ecover when I had my own.

For cotton/bamboo etc., I just use Persil non-bio powder, which is what we use as a household. I always add an extra rinse to the cycle and use a very small amount of powder.

I've used surcare mon bio for a person with sensitive skin, should be OK for a horse.

I pop them into a zipped laundry bag (to keep horsehair out of my washing machine) and then put them on a wash with my usual washign power, persil non bio
