How does everyone else wash tails?!

Ive either dunked it in a bucket of water (but then cant get right to the top) or tried to spray it with a hose but then its difficult to get all the hair wet.

After struggling yesterday, am a bit peed off!

I dunk up to the end of the bone with warm soapy water and then sweep the end up to meet the top. Add more soap and then hose the whole lot off from the top down.

Having had quite a bad kick in the past I now wont dunk the whole tail right to the top and I prefer to stand to the side and lean up the hind leg instead of working directly behind.

Quite lucky with ours, they don't object to being washed. usually hose them all over, soap tail, hose it off and then spin it to get excess water off.

I usually just hose, if you have a really thick tail it's quite difficult to get it wet all the way through as they are naturally quite greasy close to the dock but can usually manage it with my lot. Then just soap ... and hose to rinse... dry off... then tail bandage

I just use a hose - stand to one side and don't turn it up to full spurt - just let it trickle out. It takes quiet a while to get it properly wet though.

I dunk in a bucket of warm water then massage in the shampoo to bottom part of tail. Sponge down the top of the tail and massage more shampoo in. Then I rinse with a bucket of warm water. (by dunking again). Then spin tail around to remove excess water. I wait for tail to dry a bit then comb out and spray some show shine in to repel dirt. I have hosed in the past, but my horse puts in a really weird cat stretch if I use the cold hose on the top of his tail. So I try to avoid that one.
