I am in the process of cleaning all my winter rugs (it's summer here) and i was wondering do you put waterproof turnout rugs in the washing machine?

Does it ruin the waterproof stuff or is it ok for them to go in the machine?

Do you wash your rugs after winter or just leave them?

I think it is ok as long as you don't put any detergent in with them - but you may want to wait and see if anyone else has any other thoughts!!

I wash mine, I soak my turnouts and big stable rugs in a tank of water and then pressure hose them. They come up pretty well and the turnouts have so far stayed waterproof! I put my smaller rugs (sheets, fleeces) in the washing machine.

I often take mine to the launderette for washing (my machine isn't big enough to cope). They usually stay waterproof as long as you use non-bio powder.
