Last week while filling nets I got swarmed and stung having disturbed a wasp nest (large quadrant bales)
Found the nest, it was fixed to the pallet under the hay so we were able to pull the pallet out and destroy the nest (and then the hens ate the lot, wasps, grubs and nest!!?)
Thought that was the end of it but have just been under attack again, same thing- filling my hay cubes up.
Looked on fb and there are some small bales close enough to collect in my lorry but OH is pretty convinced even when I clear the old stuff out they will just keep coming back.
Is that correct? I don’t know what else to do! I only have that area available to store hay.

I've seen a few posts on Facebook saying you can hang up a crumpled brown paper bag which will deter any wasps or hornets, a friend says it has worked at her stables, I've never had the need to do it myself though

I just came on to say this. I bought a "waspinator" on eBay, cheap as chips. Like a grey material bag to hang up. We had loads of wasps before I hung it up, only seen 3 in the past 3 weeks since it was placed there!

If I need to destroy a nest, I use ant powder at the entrance at night, once they have gone to bed. Next day they take it into the nest on their feet.

Ah yes I read about buying fake nests and hanging them so along the same line. I’d forgotten that but definitely worth a try! I’ll go search waspinator :)

I assume getting a proper exterminator (is that what they are called ?) In will ruin my hay! Trying to avoid this if possible as it’s a good few weeks yet til we are able to cut new and with fat ponies I prefer to use the old stuff up.
