Exactly what the subject says, i am really going to struggle through the winter i think to keep bud, and i really cant sell him it would break my heart.
So i have been thinking of things i could do to save me a bit of money etc.
I have a really good girl who is part loaning him at the minute and is getting on with him so well, and does him twice a week and its really helping with the money situation, but not really enough through winter.
Does anyone have any feedback on what you think about having maybe 2 loaners through the winter probably another one to do 2 days, it isnt the time at all that i havent got its the money thats a big help, and bud is really havin lots of fun.
But i dont want to shove the girls nose out who is doing him know, even though i will make sure, she is happy with it first b4 i go ahead with it.
And i think as long as i get someone who bud really likes and gets on with it might work, what do ya think ?
Cheers guys

you could always give it a go, but you all need to very organised and clear about who does what and when. could you try something else maybe? eg remove shoes and turn out as much as possible, rugged during winter, should be ok to hack out at weekends or do a little school work for a short amount of time.
Good Luck

I don't think i would be able to do a three way share. 3 people divided by 7 days, could get quite tricky, and with you all wanting to have your quality riding time with Bud, when would he get any time out?
It may well work, but i don't think that either as loaner or owner i would be happy with this as an ideal situation.
Can the girl who already shares him, not commit a little further at all??
Also are you going to cut them out a bit once winter is over?

Agree with nuffield about shoes and living out, this could be an option, if he is a hardy kind of guy. I know Max could'nt cope with it but he is a wuss.

Don't envy your situation..... have been here before

it works well for a girl on my yard so long as you trust them have clear defined days and everyone is sensible about it it can work out . 2 sharers do 2 days each .

IMO 2 sharers plus yourself is difficult. I tried it last winter and found I was basically a secretary constantly texting people to find out when they were coming and chasing up money. It was more stressfull than me looking after the horse full time.

It can and definitely does work - I have shared my horse with two others now for nearly three years - we all do two days a week each, rotated so we all each get a weekend day and he has a day off.

As long as you are organised and all agree to be flexible it is absolutely fine. I get £250.00 per month from my sharers which helps out no end with my bills.

Go for it.
