Just watching Animal Madhouse on the telly and just seen the fly repellent tag they put on the little welsh pony. Never seen one of these before, has anyone else and where would you get them?

I saw that too - I wondered if it was some sort of cattle tag? Whatever it was there surely has to be market out there for it?!

On the same sort of note, that poor pony! God only knows how it got that bad without anyone doing something. I was slightly concerned that the programme made it look so simple to treat (apart from the drugs) and think it isn't beyond some people to reckon they can put a lambing band on a sarcoid, cut it open and voila...how depressing :(

A book I bought from America talks about those tags- apparently they are for cattle and can be bought from agricultural shops (although this may not be the case over here.) Anyone checked ebay?- that's usually the source of all things random and quirky :)

I know what your saying, you can just imagine people getting out their bag of rubber bands thinking cheaper than the vet! Poor pony, but at least shes getting the help she needs now.

fly repellent tags - saw them used on cattle years ago but back then the thinking was that you needed a large group of animals kept fairly closely together for full effect (ie big dairy herd) has the technology improved as anything to repel the blighters is worth a try...
