Anyone know if there's such a thing as an un-knock-overable water bucket? I've seen the feed ones that are cone shaped and really work but I've never seen a bigger one that would work as a water bucket. My girlie is a total slut in her stable overnight. Can piddle for Britain, stamps her gorgeous deep litter bed into a hideous porridge-y mess near the door and tips her water bucket over if I put it anywhere other than in the front corner. Of course, when I DO put it in the front corner, she fills it with her hay. If I put it in another corner, she pees in it or somehow gets her great hairy (muddy) feet in it! A friend brought me up a tyre but her standard large water bucket doesn't fit in it. Any ideas, short of drowning her?

I knew someone who hung a feed manger over the stable door with his water in it ... or how about making a hanging bracket inside the stable for a manger, if the door idea would not work due to space

Maybe try the 42L Rhino tubs - they fit in most tyres. I have these for my two as they think it is great fun to drag their buckets into the middle of their beds and then tip them over.

try this:
take one of the plastic barrels that you find in cross country jumps.
saw in half with OH's jigsaw/power saw.
scrub out thoroughly with dettol/hibiscrub
rinse several times.
put in desired corner of stale and half fill with clean water.

arrive in morning to find bucket upright!
works every time. both ours will pick up and throw buckets out their stables, but the plastic barrels hold enough water that they can't be tipped over!

i use one of those big hard indestructible plastic buckets that holds 2 buckets of water, one of these

inside a heavy black bendy rubber bucket which is just a tiny bit bigger. if they tip that over (only 1 has) then i put clip-rings on the walls very low down and clip the rubber bucket handles to it. nothing's beaten that...

Oooooh! Thank you HollyF! The Fortiflex flat-back bucket looks just the job! That would stop her tipping the bucket over AND filling it with hay AND peeing in it AND standing in it! Gonna get an order in tomorrow. Thanks too Jencash - hadn't thought to use a much bigger container that she wouldn't be able to tip over. She's got a fetish about water - she's the horse I posted about that knows exactly what to do if the field trough is frozen over. Stamps one foot in hard to break the ice then steps back for a drink. Also, when she got really hot in the summer she was in a field with an old bath as a trough and she climbed in the bl00dy thing! I was expecting her to call for the bubble bath and a loofah!!! Horses!!!! Cheers all!

2 car tyres, one is average car wheel size, the one on top is off a discovery. The water bucket is in that (a tubtrug that takes about 2 buckets of water). She can't get it out, all that is above is the handles. The tub trug fits very snugly inside it. This has solved my minging sodden stable problem, she cant get the bucket out. No more overturned water buckets which used to happen every night.

Thanks for that PennyJ. I can see where you're coming from. Make a tyre shape the same shape as the tub trug! Great idea! Just a question of trying different tyres to find the right sizes I suppose! Thanks again x

Can you not move it to a different place in the stable. Every day my filly would knock her water tub over. it was situated near the door and I thought "out of the way". She ended up with no water and a flooded stable. I moved it to another wall right near her haybar and she hasn't tipped it over at all. Still has water every morning and it isn't full of hay like it used to be. Just a thought.
