Water Drinker bum rubbing

Hi Guys,
Last winter my lad broke his water feeder by using it as a personal scratch post, i have bought some scratch pads to put on wall.
But, does anybody else got any other ideas to stop him breaking it again ??, It isn't worms b.t.w before anyone mentions that,
he's worm counted, he just likes using it as a rub post- thanks
