Waterproof outer layer for XC??

Maybe you can help....

Fionn and I had an XC clinic on Wednesday but the weather was interesting, v windy and damp with the odd burst of heavier rain.

I put on a short sleeve bane layer, my Kan BP and a mountain warehouse pack a mac on top. However it flapped a good it even though I pulled it in at the bottom. It wasn't cold but I did need something to cut the wind.

Any suggestions for a suitable garment for next time?

Try and find a top that's made out of this stuff: http://polartec.com/product/polartec-power-stretch

It's not waterproof per se, but definitely keeps the wind out. The other option is going for a softshell jacket but even then they're not fully waterproof.

I've a couple of softshell jackets teapot, but my BP is quite bulky. Maybe I should get another in a bigger size?

I'd def go softshell or a very lightweight fitted coat, a la Musto or the North Face.

I've a beautiful fitted musto gore tex but it's not going over BP either. I'd have more chance of getting it underneath .....

I'll pop into the outlet store for a cheap softshell option then
