I'm thinking of getting some waterproof riding trousers as I'm thoroughly fed up of getting wet all the time! I did get a long coat at the start of winter and it's been great but it doesn't cover my knees so they still get a soaking. I also have a secret agenda that if I do buy the waterproofs maybe it will finally (please, please) stop raining!

Has anybody got any recommendations on good ones to get please? So far I've been looking at Just Chaps and Toggi and both of those look like viable options. I'm pear shaped with quite big thighs so don't need anything too tight through the legs. I also would prefer no fill as then I can wear them when it pees down in summer too. I don't really mind about suede seat or not so long as they're not really slidy if they don't have suede. And that's about it really!

Love my Toggi Arctic breeches. I have two pairs. Yes they were expensive but my first pair is a good 7 years old now and still waterproof and warm.

I bought a second pair for when the first were in the wash. They are now about 4 years old and still great. They are pretty much the only thing I wear between October and April 😂

I'd happily buy more of them and recommend them.

Since discovering riding skirts, I only wear waterproof trousers for yard jobs, so would highly recommend a skirt!

My DoPo version is on it's second or possibly third year and it's utterly amazing.

Riding skirts are good. You can put them over the top of whatever jods / breeches / trousers you’re wearing really easily - win just buckles on and you’re ready to go. They’re definitely easier than faffing about changing trousers although l do also wear water resistant leggings if it’s really wet.

Thanks. Looks like Toggi don't do the Arctic breeches any more unfortunately. They do have waterproof over trousers and it says they have some stretch in them so they could be a goer, plus they've got a 10% off discount that you can sign up for which will reduce the cost a little bit. I do have a couple of normal pairs of Toggi breeches and like those and they have also aged well so I am inclined to give these ones a go.

I've never really fancied the idea of a riding skirt, I don't know why. I'm sure they'd be easier to get to fit for my shape than trousers but I just don't fancy the extra material. I do want to be able to have lessons in whatever I buy when it's raining and think it's probably helpful for my instructor to be able to see all the bad things my legs are up to so maybe trousers are better for this. Thanks for the suggestions though.

My le mieux drytex waterproof overtrousers are fantastic fit over breeches and really keep you dry can also ride in them well worth splashing out on I’ve had them on every day through this winter

Thanks all, will look at the specific brands mentioned and also see if I can get my hands on a copy of Your Horse (or else try and find the article online).
