My 8 year old cob gelding has had watery discharge after droppings since he came in from Summer turnout in October, he is healthy in all other respects has not changed in temperament/weight/appetite etc, his actual droppings are solid and fully formed but very wet and after producing his droppings he has a watery discharge which runs down and stains his legs.

He is fed 1 small handful of happy hoof and one small handful of lite balancer & has two nets of haylage daily (he is a good doer).
He is turned out for 3-4 hours 3-4 times a week and ridden at weekends.

I have tried Haylage Balancer, Protexin etc and nothing seems to stop the watery discharge :(
I have spoken to vet who has advised that as temperament/weight etc has not changed and he is healthy otherwise not to worry but such a discharge is surely not normal.

This is the first winter i have had him and speaking with his previous owner she says he has never had anything like this before, he was fine all summer.

HELP! :o

my old boy went like this after course of AB's. Vet wasn't concerned but gave me some probiotics that the horse wouldn't touch.

Pink powder sorted it out for him in the end

Probably something has just upset his gut a bit - frost?? new bale of haylege??

As the vet isn't concerned I wouldn't worry too much until there is any other change

My cob mare is the same all winter, every winter, unless I feed a scoop each of yea sacc and psyllium husk, might be worth a try.
