My horse has a watery eye and last night I noticed the discharge had turned a whiteish colour but today the colour was clear. I rang my vet who said to wash his eye out with a saline solution. Im not sure if I misunderstood him did he actually mean to wash his eye out or just clean the eyelid and underneath the eye? My mum reckons he meant to clean the underneath of his eye. Whose right?

Also would the watery eye just clear up by itself or would it need antibiotics?

Get cotton wool and optrex - soak them then hold over the top lid and gently squash the cotton wool on it and wipe down the way - thats what I do for watery eyes. I then squeeze human eye cream, brolene I think, into the corner of the eye - horse blinks and it normally spreads itself.
