Haven't been on for a while, issues over work (given redundancy notice - so nice before Xmas) and have had a total break over Christmas spending time with OH and playing ponies not forums...
Anyhoo...
From being a dangerous mugger in the field, a menace in the stable, and a pig to travel, I have to resport a strange phenomenon with Ivy the spawn of satan baby polar bear...
We thought she's be a total monster this winter owing to being in on a night, we thought her agressive tendencies would get worse. It seems I've done her an injustice, and underestimated the positive influence of Auntie Asti the patron saint of ginger mares.
We've got the beasties out three times in the last week. Twice we've boxed up Asti and Ivy and taken them to a handy place to get into the woods, and have taken Ivy on her first rides in the forest. And I have to report she's travelled well, following the said saint Asti's excellent example (no more rearing in the trailer touch wood!) and has survived two proper hacks at walk and trot - without major incident!
She has met for the first time - dogs running round, other horses in fields, walkers, cyclists, pushchairs and strange giant animal carvings in the forest and has been a total love! The only time G had to get off was to get down a rather steep hill that Ivy struggled with - having not much muscle tone - so she led her down to stop her getting her legs in a knot!
It has been so nice to get out properly hacking, even for a 45 minute walk. Its a proper faff having to trailer 10 mins down the road, but it saves the stress of the pigs over the road scaring the bejaysus out of Asti, or roadwork on a mental road - so well worth it in the end.
Bit self indulgent but its so nice that we can actually see real progress (and she's not tried to kick me or chase me out of the field for weeks! (again touch wood!!!)
She still looks like nothing on earth mind - very pretty face, but she looks like she's wearing a mucky sheepskin rug of the type popular in the 70's! And she is now rugged in a summer turnout because if you don't, she comes in brown instead of cream!!!!
Oh and her bum now towers over Asti's in the trailer, she's mahoosive!
Ivy giving Asti kisses...
Asti deciding she no like it...
Sharing the trailer - front view
Rear view - look at that big bum! Asti is croup high and 15.1 there - so how big is Ivy???
Filthy little horror...
The orange one loves looking out of the outer stable door
OK though... ones you've been waiting for... the bubba belly...
Taken a month ago
And a side on view...
And cos I couldn't resist... the polar bear in all her fluffiness...
