Does anyone have any ideas on a cheap but safe way to divide a stable in half? I have a huge stable that my horses currently share but would like to make it so they have there own space. I have thought of slip rails or a gate with mesh to stop the legs going through... we cant put a wall up as its rented and owner wont let us do it..

I really need to get some ideas quickly so can get partner to do it this summer ready for the winter (it will take him months to get round to planning it)

Any ideas will be appreciated :)

I bought 2 stables when my mare had her foal without the divide, after when weaned I had a handy man put in a wooden divide that is wither height.

Forgot to add, my friend had her OH put a gate in hers padded with ply wood so the rails were closed in.

My friend and I put a half height wooden divide in my mobile field shelter. It is ply nailed to some 2x4 batons which are in turn nailed to the walls. It comes down easily enough to move the field shelter. You could make something similar and screw it to the walls if the owner agrees.

I used a free standing 5 bar gate, it had supports at right angles either end. Did a great job. You could fix plywood sheets to make it solid if you wanted.
