So went galloping tonight, horsey threw a shoe but farrier coming out at half nine-YAY!
anyway, I think he has eventing on the brain at the moment, he's doing a fair bit of it and is fit, his quarters are rock hard, although comes back blowing after five times up a hill, not sure if thats bad.
It is a steep hill!
Anyway, he is bonkers at the moment. I have started feeding apple cider vinegar as well as his chaff, could this be it? He is out 24/7 and works most days for 30mins-1hr in various things.
He is just not taking a contact and is very hyper in everything. Any suggestions?
Can lots of eventing make them this way? I just cannot get him to settle for dressage!

Sounds like he's a wee bit too fit!

Sounds like you do lots more of the fun training and not enough of the boring stuff! good girl!

How long is the hill - 5 times sounds a lot!! more than a race horse gets!! of course he'll be puffed!

Are you doing novice?? I'd knock off the fast work a bit, if he's eventing regularly he won't need that much I wouldn't have thought?

lol. The hill I'm not sure. It doesn't take an awful lot of time, its a couple of acres field wise, prettty rectangular and this is one side of it.
He has to be fit as we are now aiming at necarne and they're talking doing 7.3.7.3.7 in terms of gallop.walk.g.w.g at the end! (how I'll hold him then I don't know!)
Sounds like it is the fast work blowing him up then?
Might just get trainer to sit on him tomorrow, he never unerstands why he gets so excited with me, he's so calm with him!

Don't worry, my horse is the same, he's got a couple of riders in the week when i'm at work and he's an old dobbin, but when I ride him I do the same little ride, where we gallop round a few fields - he loves it!

Lol.
7mins gallop, 3mins walk, repeated three times (then walked off) so got to start him somewhere. Well, gallop I assume is canter/gallop
