We all need a good rut now and again, or do we?

I've always carried on chasing deer with dogs right through the autumn.

I was wondering however about rutting stags. I believe it's the season for them at the moment.

Obviously there's no chance the police are going to try and stop me illegally chasing deer, however what's the chance of my dogs or me being gored by a testosterone fuelled stag defending his harem?

Extremely high!!!!! The Stag will think nothing if cornered or threatened out of his rutting stand of goreing you or the dogs.
Be very aware!

The rut tends to be over by mid October but again, anytime of the year if a particularly bold stag is put up the risk is high.
I appreciate you know the full legalilities of this activity.
I comment only on stag behaviour.
I have come acroos a stag recently whilst walking in the woods with my own dog, a very fit Irish Wolfhound of some size and strength. I have done all I can to prevent him from putting the deer up as his safety is paramount. Hope this helps!

Poor bloody stags. They're getting their end away and you turn up on one of your pointless, boring, completely futile deer flushing exercises.

If it's "pointless, boring, completely futile" to flush out deer.

Why is it illegal?

Isn't it meant to be because it's cruel.

Isn't that why the stag has to be shot?

So you're unable to even attempt to answer my question then.

Are you in favour of shooting those stags rather than letting them carry on with their procreation?

I would support any legislation outlawing boring people, so that mindlessly dull bozos like you were exiled, preferably to some inhospitable island, far far away.

i wonder how L_A did in his/her GCSE's/Alevels. they are always lecturing us on how you must answer the question that is being asked, not one you want to be asked. they suggest we read the question 3 times...perhaps for once some one will find the advice of my maths teacher useful.....would make a change.

I think even a fanatical "pro" observer would find some inconsistency between your squeals of protest about apparent childish insults, and you yourself calling someone a "twat". Listen more, speak less.

I think anyone who isn't a complete dork would see the deliberate contrast between my calling you a twat and your humourous little insults such as 'churlish knave' etc, totally pathetic in their wearisome attempts feign some degree of intelligence and wit.

I also think that anyone with half a brain could see that you constantly avoid dealing with any point raised.

And at the end of that breathless, self-righteous jabber, what are we left with? Someone bemoaning the fact that people resort to childish insults, whilst at the same time calling someone a "twat". Res ipsa loquitur, homuncule.

I repeat my last. You are a dull, ignorant and insignificant little prick. Now bore off. Forever.

See, I don't need to be pretentious and use Latin to make my point. Twat.

SM, I love it!
The Hunting Forum is becoming truly cosmopolitan.
I was hoping to answer in Greek (the ancient variety) but strangely enough my monolingual computer seems to lack a Greek alphabet facility :)
P.S. Can we have a translation of your post, please.
