A little late, as I didn't want to post 2 threads in one day.

On sunday, Man came to the stables with me to help muck out and put a tack box together for me (d'aw!).
I was tacking Ned up and Man said "Are dogs allowed on the yard?" I thought it was an odd comment, as he doesn't have a dog, but I thought he may mean Annie, so I said they were, so long as they're under perfect control. He then said "Oh, I think there's a loose dog!"

I look over the stable door and I see a stunning (if a little skinny) red setter wandering into the yard!
It looked absolutely terrified, cold and lost :(
It must have come along a very nasty stretch of road to get to us. Anyway, we managed to trap her in the front yard for a few mins, but she squeezed through a gap in the fence and took off down the road.

She was narrowly missed by two cars, who didn't even slow down!!

Man went to find her with a lunge line as I had to finish with Ned.

Hoorah! He got her :) She obviously wasn't nasty and was just scared, once he had her she was as soppy as anything! We tried the RSPCA but couldn't get through.
I had completely forgotten that there was a kennel up the road, so Man took her there while I rode. He sooo wanted to keep her, as did I! I hope all goes well for her, I'm sure someone was missing her like mad.

Hopefully they will scan her to see if there is a chip and reunite her with owners...

Did you notify the dog warden? RSPCA won't want to know but you have to report found dogs to the dog warden (I recently found a VERY underweight Staffy who's lodging with us atm :) )

Awww, your chap sounds like a gem persevering with catching her. Glad she is safe from being run over at least, and that someone who has missed her is coming to get her very soon.

I love red setters, beautiful dogs.

Agree, don't bother with RSPCA yet. If you can, take the dog to a vet to see if its microchipped. That will give you the lead to the owner. Also, look on www.doglost.co.uk and see if one is reported missing in your area.
I'm so glad that you managed to get the dog somewhere to safety. Well done.

We don't have the doggie anymore (mores the pity!) but the kennels is a very good one and they promised they'd do all the relevant things to help her find her owner:) I might go and ask them when happened, since they're 2mins from the yard :)
