I posted the other day about my 4yo doing really well in her first dressage test. She won with 74%. :)

I thought I'd deleted the vid but we've just found it in the recycling bin. Doh!

So here she is! What do you think?? Any CC appreciated. I know I'm not very good and think the judge was a bit generous with the score.. but not bad for a first attempt.

Lovely test well done!

She looks so much more forward and a lot stronger than the last video you posted.

Only comment would be the trot just looks a bit too forward i think you could probably bring it back a touch for a bit more rhythm but the transitions both up and down were really nice :)

Without seeing the rest of the class it looks like a deserved win, on to the next one!
 
1 - im very glad you posted this cause i recognize the test and will now be able to practice it knowing im doing it correctly! 2nd WELL deserved in my very unknowing eyes. She looks like such an easy ride and very willing and happy. Beautiful to watch.

I thought when I just watched it tonight it might be a little bit rushed. I think I'm working so hard to get her forward we are getting a bit too forward! She was a bit hard work to keep her forward but she's getting loads better at home.. So I think it will come.

Clever baby pony and very accurately ridden test. I would like to see less going on in the riding, she seems to be willingly going forward but you are really driving her with your leg. It is all a bit 'busy'. Lots to look forward to and many more rosettes to come.

Thanks AA. She didn't really feel like she was willingly going forward that much. I guess we need to get the right balance.
 
Yes the legs are a bit busy rather than squeezing and i can see you pushing her with your hips which is the first thing my instructor whipped out of me "use your leg not your hips youre riding a horse not a....." well...

Haha!😳 I need some lessons! Was booked in for one this week but she was a bit colicy the night before. Rebooked for a week on Monday.
 
My first thought was it looked rather rushed but the more I saw it seemed to me that she is behind the leg and if you had stopped riding her so strongly she would have gradually got slower until she stopped going at all, not that it was bad but it was hard work for you to keep her forward, the overall impression is good, once she learns to stay in front of you and can slow everything down without going flat she will do a super test, for a first time that was really good, most of us would be very happy with the performance.

Work at home on her really staying in front of you, do loads of transitions so you are not tempted to keep nagging away at her and get her carrying herself in the way that she should be able to, she is an athletic type so should not find it too hard.
 
Ah nothing to add that hadn't been said, but very well done and I'm not sure I'll be posting the vid of my baby horse doing that test :o.

Yep this is exactly how she felt. I think the test looked better than she felt tbh but as I said she is getting much better at home now so I think with more work and more trips out it should come together.
 
You should be very proud of her, a baby getting a good score and you didn't die :D I look forward to hearing updates over the years :)

Yes it helps the overall experience when you don't die!😂 I'm so glad she's a calm person I don't think I'd have the balls for a lively one! In fact was a bit of a risk really buying an unbroken 3yo!!
 
Do you know what, three people off the top of my head have bought unbroken little ones, mainly because they didn't have the nerve and thought i wont ride or ill be able to put my own stamp on it. They are all doing amazing! I'm always thinking a horse over 15 is the horse for me, but the horse i felt the MOST comfortable on in my entire life was a 6yo just broke at a school! (i jumped her, i DONT jump...i went on a beach ride...i dont do that... etc) i was crying my eyes out when she was sold
 
Well done! I don't think my baby horse would be quite so composed with another horse in the next arena! As for 10m circles...forget it! You did amazing x

Thank you!😊 I thought it was quite hard that you had to do 10M 1/2 circles in trot!! She was so chilled bless her. Today was a different story - she's got some Spring grass down her and has now developed a phobia of bycicles! x
