I thought that they sat on the floor.... yours looks a bit high (correct me if I am wrong) but all the pics I have seen they are on the floor. Your pony looks as if she will strain to reach inside........

I thought HayBars were supposed to be an inch or so off the floor to allow the horse to get its head in to eat the hay naturally and then any old hay can be swept up?!?!

Yours looks very high in that your horse can't get its head in there?! Might be completely wrong though?!

Hi, this is my first post so hope it goes alright.
With out wishing to sound like a know it all Haybars are definately meant to be on the floor. I saved myself a packet and got my handy boyfriend to build me two, out of ply and off cuts of decking.
Really useful and no more filling haynets!

Hi Lisa. I have a haybar too. And yep sorry. But mine is much much lower to the floor. About 2 inches off the floor so the seeds fall out and you can get your hand underneath to clean it out. Calli loves hers and really gets her head stuck in it!!!!

Haybars are great, save loads of time and wasted hay, as well as being more natural. Have to agree with the others, yours does look like it has been fitted rather high.

My friends Boyfriend fitted it while I was'nt there! I asked for him just to leave enough room so I could clean the seeds from underneath - will have to see if it can be lowered today

At our yard most of the horses have haybars too. Mind it doesn't stop Jenny from lifting most of her haylege out and spreading it around her stable willynilly.
