We have bred a jumper

Had a vet out today to do my foals markings for her passport and her microchip. My little lady is five months old. She was as good as gold and when the vet finished I left her in our enclosed yard with her mum.

The vet came into the house with us for a cup of tea. While we were drinking tea I heard my mare getting a bit irate so I went outside the kitchen and just got sight of the foal cantering on the lawn. Imediately I thought I hadn't shut the gate but I knew I had checked it. So I went over to the yard and the gate was shut with mum still in the yard getting very upset. The wee brat had jumped a standard sized post and rail fence. I don't know who was more shocked me or the vet

. We checked her over and she had a wee graze on the hind leg but is fine. She must of jumped the fence from standstill as there isn't alot of room in the yard.

She must be taking after her mum!!!

Although I hope I don't catch her jumping out again.

You will! I had one who jumped huge ditches and over a massive hedge. It usually seems to be the confident, curious ones who do it.

She is by a Trakhner stallion Maseurnfuerst out of a mare by the Magpie (trotting horse).
