Thanks to everyone for your advice, on my previous thread. We decided to give sports bred collies miss as there just seemed to be too many people breeding for pretty colours as a priority and then taking their eye off the ball on health and temperament. With that in mind we went on the hunt for a working bred dog that was also relatively steady and biddable. Our search took us to the other end of the country to Derek Scrimgeour's Killiebrae Sheepdogs. On Friday we took a road trip to Cumbria, from Wiltshire, to go and visit the potential dog and his relatives. All went swimmingly. We were impressed by the set up and Mum was probably one of the nicest dogs I have ever met. This was her first litter but she was very relaxed and confident (pups are 3 weeks old) as well as being very sweet and keen to cuddle up for some fuss. We also met her mother who while slightly different in looks had a very similar biddable temperament.
We had the choice of two dog pups as that was all that was left from the litter. One of them really stood out so we placed a deposit and he can come home to us in 5 weeks time. We can't wait!

Our pup is the tri-coloured on the right on page 2. They think he is going to be rough coated. We would have preferred smooth but weren't going to turn down a lovely dog because he was likely to turn out hairier than ideal.
