We want to go hunting! Who's hunting??

Try the shires packs like Belvoir, Quorn, Cottesmore & Fernie - I know what is scheduled for the next week and it is certainly bright sunshine on this side of the country today, but it all depends on whether the heavy weather materialises. Secretary details available from Bailys.

Alternatively beagles and bassets will often be out, even when too icy with neds. Try AMHB for details of local packs.

Belvoir grounded with the cough I think. It's certainly too frosty & hard to hunt in my part of Lincs today. Lovely & sunny though!

I think everyone will be written off with the weather this week to be fair, Belvoir have cough as we hunted Blankney hounds with them for their NY day meet at melton. The ground was OK then but the ground has been so hard this week. They reckon it's going to be another minus 6 in Lincs tonight :(

i gather there is still no snow in south dorset so could be a chance there?

There's been no snow here at all, North Staffs/South Cheshire border, but the clear skies we've enjoyed have been bringing us very harsh frosts. -8.4 at 8am this morning!

Our hunts are all cancelled due to frozen ground/icy roads. I certainly wouldn't like to fall off on it, it's worse than concrete!

South Dorset def. not hunting!! Nor are Portman, Cattistock or BV. Ground is hard as you like and dreadful through gateways. Shouldn't think we'll hunt till next week now.

The latest update I've had is that ours are just doing hound exercise on foot for the next few days. I think they made it out on NYD (there was no way I was getting up to go after all of the wine I consumed on NYE!) but not since.

I'm tempted to go along to HE tomorrow as the exercise will do me good!!

Not us. We hunted on Thurs but it was cancelled completely on Sat. Tomorrow is on foot and I doubt we will get out of horses for the next week or so.

Hi Spacefaer,

How's tricks?

We're not hunting and unless the temp improves dramatically I can't see it happening for another week at least!! It was -3 on way to work this morn. Ground is solid.

Doubt the Belvoir will be out next week either, but it may be possible as they're hunting in a more southernly area to where I am. Who knows but the imminent future looks pretty dull.

Hi,

Just an update, we've not had the snow that I think they were forecasting (Wolds area). Roads are safely passable. Having just said all that there has been a fatal accident near Louth this morning involving 2 lorries and they are reporting difficulties with travel in the north of Lincolnshire.

Not sure how it'll affect us for Saturday.

Cottesmore are definitely not hunting until the ground conditions improve. I wish the snow would hurry up and go! I was meant to be going out on Tuesday but it is almost certain the snow and ice will not be gone by then. :(

We went on foot today, I haven't been out for ages and it was lovely to see the hounds. I wouldn't claim that they remembered me but two that I walked were very friendly and stood up and talked to me for ages. Lovely.
