The old moose does it again! We did another unaff ODE today, but 2ft 6 this time.
Dressage I thought was awful, I realised going up the centre line that the judge was my old jump instructor when I was at college
. We didn't get the correct leg straight off in one of the canters, so I was prepared for a rubbish score.
Sjing was in a bit of a muddle so we had to wait a long time before we could go in. So I was expecting a carnage as it was only my 3rd time sjing Hattie and only the 2nd time at 2ft 6.
We tapped the first 2 and the first of the double but they stayed up so we got a clear round. Fortunate for my friends who were doing the arena party!
Then down to cross country were I could warm up and go straight away.
The course builder was the XC starter so I was trying to persuade him to take fence 15 (the one I was panicking about) out but he wouldn't
Hattie absolutely flew round the first half until I got to 14, when I could see the girl in front of me having trouble at 15. Thinking the jump judges will get her to move out the way I carried on. Flew 15a, but she pecked going down the drop slope and I lost my reins so just kicked and she picked up over 15b on her own, with me hailing a cab as we went over.
The girl in front of me was half way to 16. Hattie saw her and galloped on down the hill so I ended up jumping 16 and 17 about 2 strides behind her. I was still thinking the jump judges would tell the girl to move aside but no, so I shouted to her that I was coming passed. Which meant I had to do a horrible turn into 18 but Hattie managed to get over it. I could hear the girl moaning behind me
Hattie did the last combo and last fence beautifully to end in a double clear.
We had a 29.6 dressage (I think the judge was being lenient as they were all in the high 20s, low 30s). And ended up 2nd!
