My horse is a WB and 16.1hh and usually takes a 6'0 rug (most of his rugs are premier equine and have plenty of "room") but in others a 6'0 is a little small. Just wondering how you find weatherbeater rugs come up - large or small!!??

Thanks!!

I personally am a big fan of Weatherbeeta. They fit my 16.1 TB perfectly. My 14.2 cob x Dales has 15h rugs whatever the make because of her build, and again fits perfectly. Decent tail flaps on them too! My instructor who sees and looks after umpteen horses, thinks they are the best quality rugs at a reasonable price.

I find they come up true, if you see what I mean, Cappy measures as a 7ft and every Weatherbeta in 7ft I have bought Cappy, bar one, has fitted perfectly. He is in a 7ft. and is a 17-3hh WB. The only one that didn't was a lite stable rug with neck. I think it was mislabelled and is a 7ft3.

PS any one want a Jasper Lite Weatherbeta 7ft3 PM me!

im not a huge fan of weatherbeet. i find they are quite constricting on the shoulders of my horses. One is a 15hh very narrow tb and is always 5ft9 and this fits her length ways but just seems to pull on her shoulders.
My 3 year old (very croup high) is only 14.3hh- 15hh and is 5ft9-6ft and pulls a bit on his shoulder. He is usually 6ft- 6ft3 in other makes so they are quite roomy on him.

I love Weatherbeeta rugs! Love love love them.

I would think that your WB would be good in a 6'3". I have a 16.2hh WB cross and she has a 6'3" which fits a treat (she also has a 6'6" weatherbeeta which is rather roomy). The 6'3" also fits our 16hh Appy nicely too.

They definately come up big! In an Amigo and derby house, my boy gets away with wearing a 6'6, but the 6'3 weatherbeeta actually gives even more room!! I do love weatherbeeta's though, the quality has really got very good and the fit especially in the neck (on the combos) are one of the best.

I think that Weatherbeeta rugs are fab, I have 15HH Lusitano/Welsh who was used as a stallion before he was cut and he has a large neck and deep chest, I have tried many rugs but they are like a strait jacket and leave a welt on his neck where they have pressed in. He takes a 6' rug but I still find them a bit restrictive so I buy 5'9" and use the chest extenders and they are lovely and roomy with plenty of room fo him to move about it with no welts. I have tried other rugs this way and still find then on the "snug" side, defintiely Weatherbeeta for me.

Turnout rugs seem to come up as a true fit, however the jasper stable lite seem to be a tad smaller, my boy is a definate 5'9 but this was too tight around the neck and wither 6ft fitted perfectly. I am really struggling at the moment to find a fleece or something similar that actually fits properly, as he is a hairy but getting on a bit. A 100g rug is enough in the very cold weather, but I am desperately searching for something a wee bit lighter. Tried a Amigo cooler, but it comes past his knees. Got a horse wear fleece which is gorgeous but very heavy, warmer than the weatherbeeta in fact. Oh and a 100g turnout rug would be nice too.... But yeah weather beta seem
to be a good fit on the whole.

Love my weatherbeaters!!!

Both big and little pony are in them (16.3 & 10.3) Brilliant fit for both-nice and roomy and yes lovely tail flaps on them that don't lift up in the wind

Brilliant thanks very much guys. I just remembered that I got a weatherbeater stable rug for my little pony, she's 13.2hh and so "should" take a 5'3 but it came up too small, I think I will err on the side of caution and get a 6'3. Thanks ever so!!

I always go to WB for my horse! he is very narrow 15.2hh and 6'0 fits him fine.
Only make with a better fit is the Rambo but they are a lot more expensive!

I find masta rubbish on my boy..

I don't like the fit of them on our horses.

I have a brand new 6'3 heavyweight combo (full neck) sitting in the tack room doing nothing. Its got some mud on it as its been worn a few times at the end of last year.

No probs with outdoor Weatherbeeta's here :)

Chunky (not over so tho!) 15.1 is in a 6'6" which fits beautifully from one end to the other & plenty of shoulder movement :)

The 12.2 is in a 5'3" which also fits 'ok' - but it could do with being 1-2" deeper in the neck tho

6fts do seam to be 6ft BUT the last few 6ft 9"'s i have brought have been more 7ft ish and i have been a little dissapointed - they seam to have lost the plot on these big sizes and the neck fitting is not what they used to be

And trust me i must have over 20 weatherbeater rugs but will be moving on to premier equine from now on

nuttynugglet - i am yet to meet the horse that masta fits - i had 4 brand new ones - two went to the blue cross last christmas and i am looking for a charity to send the other two to for this christmas

I've always bought Weatherbeeta for my traddie cob; the last rug I bought was the "Highgrove" stable rug with fleece/built up neck - was a bit disappointed in it coz tho' it fitted fine on the rest of him, it was short vertically i.e. from the central spinal line downwards and didn't really cover up his tummy very well, poor lad, so I use a waffle rug underneath so he doesn't get a chill.

This is the only one of their rugs that has been a disappointment though, the rest have always been fine.

i think they come up a little bit snug and if you have a horse with big shoulders would def go up a size, my 16.2HH TB is slim built but very muscled and has shoulders like you wouldnt believe, he is usually 6'6 but a 6'9 weatherbeeta fits just nicely, not too big at all.

find the stable rugs come up bigger than the turnouts, the landa lite turnouts come up very small IMHO.
