Can anybody tell me if it is possible to find a Weatherbeeta medium/lite turnout (100g) without a neck anywhere in the world in a 6'6"?

I don't think they make this rug anymore and all the other 100g turnouts I find online are either hugely expensive or by cheaper brands which I don't know the fit of. I can find the Weatherbeeta as a combo but don't need a neck on mine! :(

If anyone knows where I could find one or can recommend an alternative 100g rug (or thereabouts) with a similar fit, please let me know. I only currently have a no fill rug and then a much warmer medium weight (220g I think) and think I would get a lot of use from 100g rug!

Many thanks.

Have you looked at shires or swish, I've just got a new swish 50grm and I'm really impressed with it so far, really good fit, hasn't moved atall and a nice big tail flap. I have got shires 100grm which is good too tho I think the swish is a bit deeper. I'm definataly going to get a few more

Sorry this is not very helpfull - i am planning on getting one of these rugs!

On my lightweights and Rainsheets i always buy a combo neck and then if needs be just fold it underneath - over the withers - which makes them versitile and more comfy for my welshie who has a very sesitive wither - even thou you cant see his wither ;)

Sorry not very helpfull i dont think they do a standard - i think RUGGLES does one like it in a standard which are usually the same fit as the weatherbeeta but you can tell there cheaper if you know what i mean ;P

i have a weatherbeeta, a shires and a rhine gold 100grm rugs and i can safely say that between the shires and the rhine gold - i prefer the rhine god as it has legstraps but tbh they all fit the same and they are all proving to be good rugs :) so i hope that helps :) the weatherbeeta is good but its getting old... as things do but it comes out the same as all the other rugs :)

Thanks for the reply. I found the Swish and Shire ones on eBay but wasn't sure about the fit of them compared with the Weatherbeeta? The neck/chest on the Swish looked a little narrow and although my mare isn't a tank, she does have some substance to her (in my signature below). If you like them though then I would certainly think to give one a try as they looked nice and a reasonable price.

trefnantblackknight - I did think about folding the neck under actually but as they could be wearing them for long periods of time, didn't think that was ideal. It's just frustrating that they stopped making them without a neck!

I would go with a Swish - they fit my chunky monkeys perfectly, the 75g i have sits slightly higher on the neck and doesnt mover or pull at all

dont get the swish, really :o i was on a major mission to get a WB freestyle med/lite 100g last year for my horse, having had one for a previous horse.

I searched and searched and they dont do them in the UK anymore. There is occasionally the odd one on ebay.

I wasted money trying, shires, ruggles, swish and knightshead... even got an amigo 100g thinking that would be better but they all got passed on or sold. The Ruggles and swish were a pile of crap tbh, the knightshead was ‘ok’ but the main problem with all of them was the dodgy fit. Especially the Amigo - the newer ones have been made much deeper and even on my Sec D it was just ridiculous, I also dont like the lack of shoulder darts and small tail flap they have.

Its worth mentioning that I am uber fussy about rugs tho ;)

I DID however get a weatherbeeta freestyle 100g in the end :D I got it via Amazon.com and paid the 30 odd quid import tax to get it from the USA :o So glad I did though and wish Id done that from the start:rolleyes:

Ooh, sneaky! Thanks for the heads up. Not sure I could budget for that right now but certainly worth knowing about! I guess if they stopped selling them over here there just wasn't much interest?

I have found that the Swish rug that I bought wasn't as breathable as I expected and my oldest boy got quite sweaty in his.

I have just bought a Shires Typhoon 100g combo for £50 from R & R Country. I was very impressed with the rug, but then, I have been a fan of Shires, as a budget rug, for years.

How about making a note of your critical measurements and then going down to a saddlery shop with a tape measure for a look?

I have the Shires 100g without a neck, best rug I have brought, so useful and fits lovely.

They are true to size, all my others are Weatherbeeta which can come up big.

i dunno but if you search on here there are loads of threads looking for them so I guess a fair few folk still want them. If you work out the dollar/pound exchange rate on those rugs it doesnt work out too too bad, I just paid with my UK credit card it was converted by Amazon.

there is a 6ft3 on ebay

I have a few Weatherbeeta rugs which fit my horse well. He also has a Swish 100g turnout and it has been great! He wore it overnight last night in torrential rain and he was bone dry this morning. For the money I think they are good value and the fit is like a Weatherbeeta.

Nope they dont make them any more which is stupid as I loved mine until some one else destroyed it . I have a rinegold one on the way as he desperatly needs some rugs after they all got ripped off him :( so I'll let you know how it is when it arrives. Seems silly not to make them as they are such usefull rugs.

He is long in the body and has short legs but the shires one came down past his knees, amigos I like as they are often in the sale and I havnt tried any of the others. Seen some masta ones but they are to big across the front on him so may suit your mare?

Thanks juliette! That's good to know. :)

I was just looking at the Rhinegold one too and pondering. Would be great to know what you think of it when it arrives, thank you. For some reason I find Masta rugs to be a really awful fit on all of ours!

What about the Mark Todd 'Autumner' its slightly heavier at 150g but comes without a neck (although you can get one separately), retails around £60 I think?

Thanks for the suggestion. That's getting a bit close to the warmer rug I already have but I will take a look anyhow! :)

Hey, I have a 6ft 6 medium light amigo rug with detachable hood .... Really good rug

I must admit that I do like the Horseware rugs. I could spend far too much money if I had it...
