Weatherbeeta Saxon Turn Out Rugs

I have a lightweight and a middleweight. They are good, cheap rugs and seem waterproof. They come up a lot shorter in depth than the normal weatherbeeta rugs. Mine are just for second rugs if the others are too wet to put on.

I think if my boys were living out all winter i would want a deeper rug with better tail flap etc. But i am fussy and like them to be cosy snug! Thats why they dont live out, apart from the fact my field couldnt take it!

lol - I'm not stabling a broodmare, a yearling and a semi-retired cob through the winter! I hear what you say about decent tail flap and depth though! I really do like proper weatherbeetas - was just curious about this budget brand that's all.

I think they're alright, pretty waterproof though probably not the best fitted of rugs, my cobs had to be done up on tightest holes or it would slip. Here he is wearing it! Not a great picture but you can see the depth of the rug, he is quite a chunky boy so not bad!

Hi my mare wore a saxon combo last winter, she came in at night but i found the rug to be one of the best i used, it never moved, never leaked especially with all the rain we had last year and never left any unsightly bold bits on her shoulders and yes the only thing is there not as deep as other rugs which is a shame but would defo buy another one.

I have them on my woosy TB's and while they are not a deep as other rugs they have never rubbed, slipped, leaked, and have also catered extreamly well with the high wither thing I have going on

I used to call Murph's his "mini-skirt" as they aren't very deep and it didn't come down very far - in fact his tummy used to stick out the bottom! But that was only a light weight one and he used to get rather warm so was good if i wanted just a rain cover. The strange thing i found was that he had a fleece and that used to fit fine! But he was 17hh, and the 18.2hh in the next stable had the same issue too (but again had a fleece which was fine!). Never got a newer one though because of this so they may have changed the design a bit.

good rugs if a little small - in hindsight i should have bought a size bigger for my growing beast but didnt and will need to get another rug next year...

No complaints with the rug itself though!

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate the views and experiences!

Thank you PL for posting the pic of your boy - he looks so cuddly in that pic

I think they are great rugs! Toff is only 13.3hh but 6ft long so as they come up shallow they fit her perfectly. They also fit Beano's yearling shape well (all leg!). They don't slip/rub/leak and I think are very good value.

I have to say, that the fact they are not overly deep is appealing, as I'm thinking of Hector - who like your Beano, is all leg and no depth atm. Thanks Troggy!!!

the lack of depth is what makes them co cheap lol and yas that came from the w/beeta rep!
If you want a bit more depth but a few pounds more ask your w/beeta stockist to show you a pic of a Landa original without the freestyle system
