A couple of questions, I am having a complete dither about which rug to buy George, I need to replace his 100g turnout and I suspect very soon his 200g as well. Ideally i'd like a 100g outer and then be able to use liners. I have ruled out the duo as too expensive, but was looking at the new Rambo Original 100g with fixings for the liners, but still nearly £200 by the time I buy a hood.

So what are people's thoughts on the weatherbeeta tristar? I know its been discontinued but there are still some available to buy. I know George fits WB rugs as his heavyweight is a orican freestyle and fits him a treat, just curious about the quality of the tristar and whether the fit is the same as other WB rugs, or do I need to go up a size to allow for the liners?

Finally I've found them in stock at horserugs4U and wondered if anyone had used this site and what they were like?

Thanks all :)

I seem to recall some threads on here about that particular internet supplier being extremely slow on delivery and people giving up hope of receiving that which they had paid for after waiting months and months...

3 of us on the yard have the tri-star and all of us love them :D I only got mine this summer, after seeing how well the other two people's lasted and stood up to the most horrendous of weather, and mine's been great too. It's been worn in the snow etc. and is doing super :D
No idea on the website, sorry, i got mine from Millbry Hill, not sure if they still have some?

Try Equestrian clearance.com, they had them in at £109.99 and are quick to deliver, service is good from them. Based in Halifax so not so far from me and Ive had a fair few things from them in the past. Seem to think there have been some threads on here about these rugs having a problem with breathability and feeling damp inside, being mistaken for leaking. May be wrong and having a senior moment here but I do seem to recall some posts on here about it. Have you had a look on EBay? May be able to pick up a bargain if they are discontinued.

Me and a friend have them - we got them in a sale for £60! They are now in the 2nd winter and I love them. I bought the 100g and 300g liners in another sale for £25 each which means I can go in 100g increments from 100g up to 400g. It is J's only winter rug and I have had no problems with it leaking or any issues with breathability. They are a slightly different cut to the Orican but he is in his normal size which is quite generous. The liners are not at all bulky so don't make the outer rug a tight fit. I would love to get one for B as they are so versatile but don't have the pennies :(

Love the tristar rugs! Have one for my ginger nut that is now 2 years old (got mine in the DH sale with additional liners) and it is still going strong. Never had any problems with it and it has never leaked or felt damp inside. Thumbs up for equestrian clearance, never had any dealings with HR4U so wouldnt know. Last time I checked though my local tack shop had some of the tristars and if all else fails I can give you their number to see if they have your size...
