Looking to buy another horse and so have phoned up about a very nice sounding one today. When I asked the lady about his breeding as it wasn't mentioned in the advert she advised me that his mother was an IDxTB and his sire was a Connamara x TB but he is registered with Weatherbys and has a Weaherbys passport. Am i wrong in thinking that only racehorses are registered with them and have these passports? Have had ex-racers in the past and like all others they have been registered and have Weatherbys passports. Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question!!

not a silly question at all!

weatherbys are able to issue passports to any equine, they have been licensed since 2004 to do that. they do racing passports and breeding animal passports, as well as the normal identification ones.

my tb x id has a weatherbys passport :D

Brilliant thanks everyone:) I had hoped that this was the case but was a little bit confused and hoped I wasn't being conned!!
Will go ahead and look at the horse. Thanks again!

Haha, just reminded me of Miloh's passport. His is Weatherbys, and he's a Section A x Coloured Cob (we think!). Suppose he could have TB in there....somewhere! :D
