Does anyone have any tips for protecting from the rain etc? Someone said something about a 5l drinks bottle (??) & putting it over the top? Need to protect the battery too.....
I splashed out and bought a security box, weatherproof galvanised metal that houses the energiser and battery AND has the added bonus of being LIVE when the energiser is switched on!!! It is attached to the ground on a 3' metal spike, so hopefully oppertunistic theiveing scumbags will keep their hands off!!
Could you post some pictures of these things please?I have one of those cupboards that houses electric switches for my mains ones. It has a locking front door and is bolted over the box. For my battery one I have a bigger electrical box , with a door, it opens and inside I have the electric box inside a postbox. You can accesses battery and switch and that's all. It was all screwed to the fence. Therefore it was both dry and secure, although it did become a havan for wildlife of the eight legged kind!!!
surely they are waterproof as they are designed to be used outside, never had problem with one getting wet :/ I have covered mine for extra security when it is visible from the road but thats it.
