Mine weaves - only when in and only when he thinks he's missing out on something or is really wanting his feed. The best remedy is to have them turned out as much as possible in my opinion.
Mine is only in at night during winter and has weaved ever since I got him - 15 years ago now. He hasn't suffered any detrimental effects and no horses we have stabled next to him over that time have picked up his little quirk either. He is out 24/7 the majority of the year though so weaving is not an issue.
My arab started weaving after being stabled next to an ex racer that weaved! Now he is stabled with a mini shetland so he has a friend and doesnt weave anymore! Think you just have to find what their trigger is.
I have an ex racehorse which weaves. Hes now no where near as bad as when I get him. He only weaves occasionally when stressed now or at feed time. My pony has never copied him, even though years ago he had a several stable vices including weaving!
My ex-racer weaves. He's a lot better now than when I got him, and its only now when stressed, or feedtime, and not always then!. My cob has never copied him, and they've been together eight years now. It doesn't bother me at all.
the only problem is , is that there are now two holes in the floor in front of the doorway where she has weaved and they get filled up with water as she also dunks her hay in the water and soaks the front of the stable
