We're currently breaking my pony to drive, all's going well and she's ready to be put to cart within the next few weeks. However me being the paranoid idiot I am have been looking over her harness and wondering if there are any ways it can break or give should anything go wrong? It's webbing, bought upon the recommendation of my driving instructor. Pony's not one to panic and run, but accidents do happen!

So does webbing release in any way with great force? Or is leather a better harness?

And is there such a thing as a leather harness without collar? The only thing is she's a horse around the back end but cob everywhere else which makes buying a full set difficult

Thanks :)

Look at Zilco harness - you can mix and match sizes into a set. One thing I always carried when going on drives years ago was a very sharp knife in case of an emergency.

Zilco def the website to go to and the girls in the office are really helpful and they will ask for certain measurements and they will make a set of harness to fit your horse( parts from pony, cob, full ) if you ask they have quick release buckles etc so at the vital parts you can release the horse from the carriage . Also worth looking at getting an anti-bucking strap so if your horse does buck he doesnt get his leg over the shaft .
