weed killer for horse paddock..

I have recently taken on a 2 acre field thats divided up..only problem is the back field gets overgrown with thistle like plants and there is also a lot of fern there..is there anything i can spray on the field to kill these but still keep the grass..the field is about a acre size wise..i have looked at barrier h but its more of a spot on application.....

forgot to say it only happens spring/summer time..

Graze on, but dont do it now.

Any broad leave weed spray would do it, but it will kill any clover too. Wait till the spring.
